The Colorado Sand Dunes

For the beauty of the earth, For the glory of the skies, For the love which from our birth, Over and around us lies; Lord of all, to Thee we raise, this our hymn of grateful praise. ~ For the Beauty of the Earth

A bit over a month ago we took ourselves and a packed lunch and headed south to take advantage of Free National Park Week. Seriously, we contemplated crossing the border into New Mexico, we were that close. It began as a cloudy, cold, rainy and dreary day (hence the down coat I'm wearing), but God blessed us with beautiful sunshine! The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is a fun place to see! And no... we didn't make it to the top, I was too tired, but we did make it over half-way! I know... whoopie. :-P But it IS almost 10,000 ft above sea level where they start.  And altitude and I really don't get along well. We're still working on it. Someday my friends, there will be pictures of us at the top of Pikes Peak. We are going to hike it. One of these days... That and the Incline are on our "To-Do while living in Colorado" list. :-)
Note to self: Next time you go travel somewhere, don't play around taking pictures of random things that you drive by unless you know that your battery is fully charged. Otherwise you'll get to where you were going, and have it die after just a few pictures. Major bummer. ;-(

Moon River, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style some day. Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker, wherever you're going I'm going your way. Two drifters off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see. We're after the same rainbow's end-- waiting 'round the bend, my huckleberry friend, Moon River and me. ~ Moon River
