I have so many books just begging to be read (or reread!), so when Dwight picks up his CPA study books (which are absolutely HUGE!, pray for him as he prepares for the exam!), I grab one of my books off the shelf. Future Grace was the one I decided to begin with; Piper's books are so good, true and thought-provoking!
As I began to read, I noticed an old bulletin from GCBC. I took a moment to look at it, and it brought me back to memory lane - I was so encouraged and excited as I recalled the goodness of God in my life particularly in recent years and how he kept me and prepared me for the handsome man who was beside me. I can't imagine life without Dwight, he is so wonderful and makes my heart go pitter-patter!
The bulletin was from July 15, 2005... the Sunday Keith McFarland spoke. We sang hymns like "Let us Love and Sing and Wonder", "Wonderful Merciful Savior", and "How Deep the Father's Love for Us." God used that church, my family, and so many friends - the Collins & Carmens, the Novotnys & Conways, Christy & Amy, and so many of the Heritage girls... to just pour truth into my life. To point me to God, to give me hope in the promise that someday, God would strengthen and enable me to trust. At church we would often sing "Before the Throne of God Above." I love that song... it grew to mean so much to me. And over those next 3 years God gave me a new heart - stronger, and in His grace, more confident in His wisdom. :-) I never want to stop learning and growing...
Now it is Jan. 15 of 2009. Dwight being in my life does not make or prove that God is faithful. God is faithful because He is God. But I'm so glad he chose to create a Dwight-void and fill it in this past year. It has been a whirlwind... but it has been fantastic, and now we're happily living life and dreaming about this coming year and it's surprises. I feel joy when I'm with Dwight, I think - know actually!, that I'm the luckiest gal alive, and can't wait to grow old with him (even though that can definitely take its time!!! :-D). It seems hard to believe we've almost been married 8 weeks. Each day is better than the previous. I love you, sweetheart!
Thank you, Lord.
Another book I've read recently, is How to be Lovely, a book written about Audrey Hepburn and filled with quotations from her or about her. Yesterday, I read it through 1 1/2 times as I waited to get my Social Security info updated with my new name. :-) No, Colorado Springs does not take appointments. Unfortunately. Otherwise it would not have taken 4 hours. It's a long story. Oh well! I had fun reading. :-) I realize that she was not a believer, and that we shouldn't idolize anyone or anything. So I don't. But I do appreciate her common sense, her classic style (which works well for me since we have similar build, I'm just 1 1/2 in. taller, and just slightly heavier), her determination, her graciousness, her love and committent towards her children, and I really like My Fair Lady. (Many thanks for the intro, Mindifer!) And yes, I am taken with the "Tiffany/ Princess" style of diam0nd rings, which thanks to Dwight... I get to glance at as often as I like! I love my ring! It is beautiful. :-) Oh, and did I mention that she prefers the country??? My home just so happens to currently be near the Rockies, and not the Swiss Alps. We still have the snow caps. :-) *Smile*
I decided to change my profile pic. This old one makes me laugh, those who know the story of *my hair* can understand. :-) I bounce back between a bob or long, gotta love it when decision is made for you! ;-)
The other night I made buffalo (on sale it was cheaper than the beef at Whole Foods). I'm thinking though, that Wal-Mart may possibly be where I'll get my meat *mostly* in the future, or at King Soupers (I miss Kroger, they are the same store, same items - I just prefer the name given to the midwest branch). I like how easily I can just buy what I need at WF. But anyways... I made hamburgers with the buffalo, and although it wasn't bad... it was different enough that the remainder will be used in casserole. It was just sweet tasting, and it seemed as if everything sweetish (even some fruit) really was quite unappetizing to me that day. But hey, at least we tried it! ;-) Any thoughts on meat other than chicken, pork, lamb or beef? :-) And any ideas of how I can get coupons without purchasing the Sunday newspaper, or having a printer?
